Vascular Lesion Laser Treatment
-

Collapses Unwanted Blood Vessels
IPL light energy is absorbed by the haemoglobin in visible blood vessels beneath the skin's surface. This causes the vessels to heat up, collapse and break down, allowing the body to naturally absorb them over time and leaving the skin looking clearer and more even-toned.
-

Reduces Redness and Flushing
By targeting the dilated vessels responsible for surface redness, IPL treatment visibly reduces persistent facial redness and flushing. Results improve progressively across the treatment course as the skin heals and regenerates.
-

Treats Spider Veins and Thread Veins
IPL is highly effective at reducing the appearance of spider veins, thread veins and broken capillaries on both the face and body. The treatment is precise and can be used across multiple areas including the nose, cheeks, chin and legs.
-

Improves Skin Clarity and Tone
As unwanted vessels are broken down and absorbed, the overall clarity and evenness of the skin improves. Many clients notice a significant reduction in blotchiness and a visible improvement in skin tone after completing their course of treatment.
Targeted Laser Treatment for Smooth, Clear Skin from £45.
Vascular lesions can impact both your appearance and self-esteem, but with the power of Lynton Excelight™ laser technology, you can achieve clearer, more even-toned skin. This advanced, non-invasive treatment works by emitting pulses of light that target and break down unwanted blood vessels, allowing your body to naturally absorb them over time. Whether you have spider veins on your face or varicose veins on your legs, our laser treatments offer an effective solution to reduce the visibility of vascular imperfections. Experience the confidence of smoother, vein-free skin with minimal discomfort and no downtime.
Lynton Excelight™ laser technology targets vascular lesions by emitting precise pulses of light that are absorbed by the blood vessels beneath the skin's surface. This light energy is converted into heat, which causes the unwanted vessels to collapse and break down. The body then naturally absorbs the treated vessels, leaving the surrounding skin intact. The treatment is non-invasive and tailored to your specific needs, ensuring safe and effective results across all areas of the body. Most clients experience minimal discomfort and can return to normal activities right after the session. With a few treatments, you can enjoy clearer, smoother skin without the visibility of vascular lesions.
Targeting Vascular Lesions for Clearer Skin
Our Process
-

Consultation & Patch Test
We understand that every client’s skin is unique, which is why we prioritise your safety and satisfaction. During a thorough consultation, we’ll discuss your concerns and goals, walking you through each step of the vascular lesion laser treatment process. With a focus on your comfort and confidence, we’re dedicated to helping you achieve smoother, clearer skin with effective, tailored care you can trust.
-

Treatment
Before your vascular lesion laser treatment, we ask that you cleanse the treatment area to ensure the Lynton Excelight™ can effectively target the skin for optimal results.
With the Lynton Excelight™, the treatment is non-invasive, gentle, and virtually painless. Once the skin is prepared, the applicator delivers targeted pulses of light that target the unwanted blood vessels beneath the surface. This light energy reduces inflammation and helps break down the vascular lesions, leaving your skin looking clearer and more even-toned. The process is repeated across the treatment area, providing you with smoother, healthier-looking skin with minimal discomfort.
-

Aftercare
After your vascular lesion laser treatment, you can return to your normal activities immediately. Some mild redness or sensitivity in the treated area may occur within the first 24 hours, but this typically subsides quickly.
In the following weeks, you’ll see gradual improvement as your skin heals and regenerates. The treatment helps to reduce the appearance of blood vessels, redness, and overall irritation, leading to smoother, more even skin.
If you have any questions or need post-treatment advice, our team is here to support you and ensure the best possible results for your skin.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Vascular lesions are visible blood vessels close to the skin's surface, including thread veins, spider veins, broken capillaries, and small areas of facial redness. They commonly appear on the face, particularly around the nose and cheeks, as well as on the legs. Laser treatment using the Lynton Excelight targets the haemoglobin within these vessels, causing them to close and gradually fade from view without damaging the surrounding skin. If you're dealing with facial redness alongside other concerns like uneven tone, dullness, or fine lines, it's also worth considering our IllumiFacial — rather than spot-treating one issue in isolation, it combines a deep cleanse, a medical-grade tri-fruit acid peel, full-face IPL, and specialist serums in a single session, treating the whole face for a more complete result and better overall value.
-
Most clients see noticeable improvements after 3-6 treatments, typically spaced 4-6 weeks apart, depending on the severity of the acne.
-
Most clients describe the sensation of the Lynton Excelight as a mild snapping or warming feeling against the skin, similar to a light elastic band flick. It's generally well tolerated without the need for numbing cream, though this can vary depending on the treatment area and individual sensitivity. Any discomfort is brief and subsides quickly once treatment is complete.
-
The Lynton Excelight can safely treat vascular lesions almost anywhere on the face and body, including the nose, cheeks, chin, chest, and legs. Facial thread veins and broken capillaries are among the most commonly treated, alongside leg veins. If your main concern is facial redness combined with other signs of ageing or dullness, our IllumiFacial treats the whole face in one session — including a deep cleanse, tri-fruit acid peel, full-face IPL, and specialist serums — rather than targeting redness alone, often giving better overall results and value. During your consultation, Charlotte will assess the specific areas of concern and confirm the most suitable treatment.
-
Side effects are typically mild and short-lived. You may notice some redness or slight swelling in the treated area immediately afterwards, which usually settles within a few hours to a day. Occasionally the treated vessels can appear slightly darker before fading over the following weeks as the body absorbs them. Serious side effects are rare, and Charlotte will provide full aftercare advice to support healing and minimise any risk.
-
These terms are often used interchangeably and refer to the same thing — small, dilated blood vessels visible beneath the skin's surface. Spider veins and thread veins tend to describe branching patterns commonly seen on the legs and face, while broken capillaries often describes smaller individual red vessels appearing on the nose, cheeks, and chin. All of these can be effectively treated with Lynton Excelight laser therapy. If your broken capillaries are associated with persistent facial redness or flushing, it is also worth discussing whether rosacea laser treatment may be appropriate.
-
Yes, the Lynton Excelight can treat vascular lesions on both the face and body including the legs. The treatment approach and settings may differ depending on the size and depth of the vessels and the location on the body. During your consultation, Charlotte will assess the lesions and confirm the most appropriate treatment plan for each area.
-
Thread veins and broken capillaries develop when small blood vessels weaken and dilate permanently under the skin. Causes include genetics, sun exposure over time, rosacea, pregnancy, hormonal changes, prolonged standing, trauma to the skin, and temperature extremes. They are very common and purely cosmetic in most cases. If sun exposure has also caused damage in the form of dark spots or uneven tone, our pigmentation laser treatment can address those concerns at the same time.
-
Immediately after treatment the treated area may appear slightly red or flushed, and in some cases the vessels may temporarily appear more visible before beginning to fade. This is a normal response. Any redness typically settles within a few hours to 24 hours. Over the following weeks you will notice the treated vessels gradually fading as the body absorbs them.
-
Laser treatment permanently closes the treated vessels — they will not reopen. However, new vessels can form in the same area over time, particularly if the underlying cause such as sun damage, rosacea, or genetic tendency is still present. Maintenance treatments can address any new vessels that develop. Clients with rosacea as an underlying driver may benefit from a combined approach — find out more on our rosacea laser treatment page.
